Yeti Audio-Animatronic Coming Back to Life Inside Expedition Everest

At the D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, Neil Patrick Harris was joined on stage by Thomas Mazloum, Chairman of Disney Experiences, who announced that the Yeti audio-animatronic will be returning to life inside Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The announcement was met with cheers from the crowd, celebrating the return of the iconic yeti figure that has captivated guests for years. The event included a tribute by Gloria Gaynor, who performed her 1978 hit "I Will Survive" in honor of the long-standing yeti character.

Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest is set inside the nearly 200-foot Forbidden Mountain at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The attraction immerses guests in the lore of the yeti right from the queue, featuring a trailside museum with evidence of the yeti's existence, sketches of sightings, and a giant footprint mold.

Riders climb aboard an old tea train car and travel up the rocky peaks, where signs of the mysterious guardian—including torn train tracks—build the tension. The design is inspired by the northwest face of Mount Everest and geological features from Tibet and Nepal, creating the perfect home for the elusive yeti.
