Disney Animation-Inspired Experience Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California, is where iconic artists transform ideas into beloved characters and films. Soon, guests can step inside a new experience inspired by the Emmy Award-winning short "Once Upon A Studio," bringing Disney Animation characters to life at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

New Adventures Under the Sorcerer Hat

In 2026, the Star Wars: Launch Bay location will transform into "The Magic of Disney Animation," a playful space crowned by Mickey’s iconic Sorcerer Hat. The story begins as animators step away, leaving the building alive with characters ready to play, featuring interactive moments throughout the recreated studio departments.

Guests will enjoy lively portraits like those in "Once Upon A Studio," see a special short film, and have the chance to learn to draw their own character sketches. A whimsical indoor playground inspired by Mary Blair’s original "Alice in Wonderland" concept art called “Drawn to Wonderland” offers oversized floral and musical experiences perfect for young visitors.

The experience also features numerous character greetings and creative spaces where families can play and explore together, making it a destination for all ages.

The Walt Disney Studios Lot Comes to Life at Hollywood Studios

Beyond the building, the courtyard will be transformed into "The Walt Disney Studios," inspired by Burbank’s legendary lot with elements like the Studio Theater hosting “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” and a fresh Disney Jr. show at the soundstage.

Families can relax, play, or snack under lush trees while spotting characters hidden in the scenic environment, creating an immersive and nostalgic atmosphere.

Walt Disney Imagineers and Disney Animation artists are collaborating to bring this imaginative world to life for families to enjoy starting in 2026. To prepare for this change, Animation Courtyard and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will close beginning September 25, 2025, but "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" and Walt Disney Presents will remain open.

The Emmy-winning inspiration, Disney Animation’s short film "Once Upon a Studio," is available for viewing on Disney+.
