Step back into the Grid as it breaks into our world and Tomorrowland with a thrilling new Tron: Ares version of the TRON Lightcycle / Run ride.
The newly announced overlay transforms TRON Lightcycle/Run at Walt Disney World and TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disney Resort, featuring vibrant red and orange light tunnels that immerse riders in a dazzling Lightcycle race.
Replacing the ride's classic blue and orange hues, the overlay features twisting tunnels of bright red light, capturing the striking aesthetic of Tron: Ares. The experience also includes a soundtrack by industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, amplifying the ride's energy with pulsating industrial sounds.
This special Tron: Ares overlay will be available for a limited time beginning September 15 at Magic Kingdom and September 16 at Shanghai Disneyland.
The Tron: Ares film releases in theaters on October 10, 2025. It is the third installment in Disney's iconic Tron franchise, featuring a powerful and self-aware program named Ares crossing into the real world on a mission that could change both realms.
The film stars Jeff Bridges reprising his role, alongside Jared Leto as Ares, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Cameron Monaghan. Directed by Joachim Rønning, known for Disney hits like Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Nine Inch Nails’ involvement in the TRON universe started last year, bringing their signature blend of pulsating synths, haunting melodies, and distorted textures to Tron: Ares, rewiring the auditory experience of the TRON world.
The first track from the movie’s soundtrack, 'As Alive as You Need Me to Be,' is already available, giving fans a preview of the pulse-pounding music accompanying the Tron: Ares experience.
Destination D23 2025, held from August 29 to 31, featured this exciting announcement. Fans interested in more news can follow updates and behind-the-scenes content on Disney Parks’ official social media channels.
