For over seventy years, Walt Disney Imagineering has brought characters and stories to life through innovative Audio-Animatronics figures. These figures form a key part of Disney storytelling, blending technology with artistry to immerse guests in magical worlds.

Walt Disney World Resort is set to receive exciting new Audio-Animatronics updates, enhancing both new and existing experiences with advanced technology and captivating performances.

Zootopia: Better Zoogether!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will introduce the show Zootopia: Better Zoogether! on November 7 in the Tree of Life Theater. This 4D experience features the citywide celebration of Zoogether Day, with performances celebrating the diverse residents of Zootopia.

The show’s audience members will wear “Carrot Vision” glasses that make characters appear to jump off the screen, while the beloved Benjamin Clawhauser will appear live as an all-new Audio-Animatronics figure. Differing from his usual ZPD uniform, Clawhauser will wear glow necklaces, bracelets, and a glittery Gazelle tee shirt as he eagerly vies for special access to the day’s performers.

Frozen Ever After at EPCOT

Frozen Ever After in the Norway pavilion at EPCOT has delighted fans since 2016 with Audio-Animatronics figures including Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven, Olaf, and more. This attraction was groundbreaking as the first to feature all-electric Audio-Animatronics and combine electric motors with 3D printing.

Elsa’s movements shown through her ice-forming hand gestures were made possible by scaling her wrist to allow for motor and cable placement, a technique that has influenced figures in other attractions worldwide.

Inspired by advancements seen in the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland, the Audio-Animatronics figures of Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff at Frozen Ever After will be updated early next year for a more true-to-film appearance, showcasing the next stage of animatronic technology.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Opening Summer 2026!

Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Summer 2026, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will feature high-speed thrills and Muppet humor enhanced by an all-new Muppet Audio-Animatronics figure — Scooter, the band manager, who will be seen trying to keep the Electric Mayhem on track for their concert.

Scooter will be making his debut as an Audio-Animatronics figure, accompanied by potential new Muppet figures yet to be revealed. The attraction promises to add fresh excitement and immersive storytelling for guests.

The history of Audio-Animatronics began with Walt Disney himself after he discovered a mechanical singing bird. The technology has evolved from early figures in the 1960s to sophisticated creations like the A-1000 figure seen in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, highlighting advancements in range, speed, and realism.

Notable milestones include the first fully animated human figure Mr. Lincoln in 1964, the Shaman of Songs in Pandora – The World of Avatar in 2017, and a commemorative figure of Walt Disney introduced in 2025 celebrating 60 years of Audio-Animatronics.

These ongoing innovations reflect Disney’s commitment to captivating and entertaining guests, always moving forward to tell stories in new and enchanting ways through the legacy of Imagineering.
