Monstropolis at Disney World: News from D23 2026
Published on Aug 16, 2026 by Will
Announced at D23 2026, Monstropolis is set to open to guests in 2027 at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The new land features exciting experiences inspired by Disney and Pixar's Monsters, Inc., including shows, dining, shops, and interactive environments. Disney Legend Randy Newman wrote a new song, 'Welcome to Monstropolis,' debuting in the new Glob Theater show.
Glob Theater
The Glob Theater hosts a show called 'Welcome to Monstropolis' featuring Mike and Sulley as hosts. The monsters introduce human guests to their city and celebrate the similarities between monsters and humans. Mike promises surprises that aim to delight audiences without causing any unintended chaos.
Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza and Monsters University Alumni Club
Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza is Monstropolis' top-rated pizza spot and a favorite among both monsters and human visitors. Nearby, the Monsters University Alumni Club welcomes guests to learn about MU's clubs, fraternities, sororities, and features a tribute to legendary scarers from the university's past.
Scareporium
Guests can find a wide selection of souvenirs at the Scareporium, a themed shop designed to offer unique merchandise commemorating their visit to Monstropolis.
Harryhausen’s Restaurant
Harryhausen’s Restaurant is inspired by one of Mike and Celia's unforgettable dates. It features an Audio-Animatronics sushi chef with many tentacles creating monster-worthy dishes. The menu offers variety beyond sushi and is designed as an exceptional dining experience for any guest, with a romantic atmosphere for special occasions.
Monstropolis is rapidly coming to life at Walt Disney World, showcasing a city powered by laughter rather than fear. This immersive land blends creative efforts from Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios to bring guests closer to the world of Sulley, Mike, and their friends.
The city of Monstropolis has shifted dramatically after Mike and Sulley discovered that laughter generates more power than screams, transforming the monster society and allowing monsters to embrace a new understanding of humans instead of fear. This change culminates in the creation of the Department of Human Relations, a group dedicated to welcoming humans as guests and fostering mutual understanding.
The upcoming H.U.M.A.N. Day, standing for 'Humans Understanding Monsters Are Nice,' celebrates this new era of friendship and cultural exchange. Guests will experience authentic monster city life, taste unique cuisine, explore iconic locations, and celebrate the bond between two previously separated worlds.
Monstropolis will feature lively streets lined with shops and interesting locales full of character and charm. Landmark venues like Harryhausen's and the Glob Theater add memorable experiences to the new vacation destination, inviting guests to explore every quirky corner.
