In 2027, guests will enter Monstropolis from Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, experiencing a city full of laughs, adventures, and delicious monster-inspired dishes. Disney’s culinary team faced the unique challenge of creating foods that feel authentic to monsters while delighting human palettes by drawing inspiration from characters and locations in the films.

Chef Brian Piasecki, Director of Culinary and Concept Development, and Beverage Director Evan Rosenthal collaborated to develop menus featuring playful, monster-themed twists on familiar dishes. They explored questions like whether monsters slurp or chew and how to incorporate iconic elements such as eyeballs into food in a fun and appetizing way.

Monstropolis will feature two new restaurants. Harryhausen’s is a swanky table-service restaurant inspired by the film, complete with an Audio-Animatronic sushi chef with eight tentacles. The menu is bold with ramen bowls featuring traditional Japanese flavors, enhanced with monster details like fishcake shaped as eyeballs and green eggs.

Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza is a quick-service spot inspired by Monsters University, evoking nostalgia and fun with its menu designed to feel like a beloved college pizza hangout. It will introduce the popular Monstropolis soft drink called Blort, envisioned as a purple frozen soda topped with a flavorful Scream Apple Foam.

The culinary team worked closely with Walt Disney Imagineering to ensure menus reflect the storytelling and charm of Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University, creating memorable experiences for guests of all ages. The team embraced the idea that you can never have too many eyeballs in Monstropolis — a playful touch that underscores the unique character of this new land.
