Monstropolis is rapidly taking shape at Disney’s Hollywood Studios within Walt Disney World Resort. With steel structures rising and new details emerging daily, guests will soon experience the colorful world of Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. This creative collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios is bringing the monster city to life, letting visitors enjoy the sights, tastes, and sounds of Sulley, Mike, and their friends.

More than just a new land, Monstropolis introduces a fresh story. The monster city, now powered by laughter rather than fear, is opening its doors to humans for the first time, inviting them to explore what was once hidden. The city’s official newspaper, the Monstropolis Horn, highlights a historic decision that marks a major change for monster kind.

For years, Monstropolis relied on fear, with monsters scared of humans and screams providing their energy. However, when James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski discovered that human laughter generates much more power than screams, it transformed the city’s energy source and sparked a shift in how monsters saw humans. Fear turned into curiosity and connection, leading to a historic opening of the doors between the two worlds.

This shift has resulted in the creation of the Department of Human Relations in Monstropolis. This special team is dedicated to helping monsters understand humans better as guests and facilitating the historic invitation for humans to enter the monster world for the first time.

H.U.M.A.N. Day, which stands for “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice,” celebrates this unprecedented milestone. The event is part celebration and part cultural exchange, designed to welcome human guests into Monstropolis to experience monster life and help monsters realize humans are friendly. Visitors can explore the city, meet its citizens, enjoy unique food, and engage with a world where monsters and humans meet through laughter.

The streets of Monstropolis are lined with detailed storefronts and lively industries, creating a vibrant cityscape full of personality. Iconic locations such as Harryhausen’s restaurant and the Glob Theater add special charm and provide memorable experiences throughout the city.

As construction progresses, more will be unveiled about this exciting new land. Guests should stay tuned for upcoming details about Monstropolis and the grand welcome on H.U.M.A.N. Day.
